Gena Thomas Ross

Gena Thomas Ross is a 1997 graduate of H.L.Bourgeois High School. She is the mother of three boys: Dorian, Payton & Landon. Gena has been married for 23 years to Mr. Martin Ross Jr. Her vision is to empower and enrich the lives of children. Gena is very passionate about home-schooling. Gena loves teaching and mentoring children. She has a total of 11 years experience as a teacher at M.I.C.S and as a Learning Coach. She also received her certification through N.P.S.A.G. She is a graduate of Nicholls State University. She wants every child to reach their highest potential. Her ultimate goal is to see every student at QHS succeed. "Through my years of experience, I've learned that not every child is alike. You have to meet them where they are. You have to teach them differently so they can understand."  


Jamie Luke Chauvin

Educational Pathway Coach

Jamie Chauvin is a life long resident of Houma. She is the proud parent of two daughters, Kaysia and Khloe. She is 1999 honor graduate of

Ellender Memorial High School. She has a Bachelors in General Studies from Nicholls State University along with minors in Family and Consumer Science and Humanities.

Jamie comes to QHS with ten years of experience as a Learning Coach working with diverse groups of students of all ages, grade levels and backgrounds. Among those were many students with ADD/ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome, learning disabilities, speech impairments, and non-compliant behavior.

We believe that Jamie’s passion for encouraging students to reach their full potential and her skills in educational technology allow her to effectively meet the needs of every student.

Zachary Smith

 High School Math/ English Educational Pathway Coach

Zachary Smith has been teaching math and other subjects for over five years. Starting with volunteer tutoring as a form of community service, and later as a freelance private tutor. Zachary takes pride in his communication skills and ability to meet a student at their level. He is proficient in Algebra and Geometry as well as English and other humanities. He continues to further his education at Nicholls State University's psychology department.
