Gena Thomas Ross

Founder/ Administrator

Gena Thomas Ross is a 1997 graduate of H. L. Bourgeois High School. She is the mother of three boys: Dorian, Payton & Landon. Gena has been married for 24 years. Her vision is to empower and enrich the lives of children. Gena is very passionate about home-schooling. Gena loves teaching and mentoring children. She has a total of 12 years experience as a teacher at M.I.C.S and as a Learning Coach. She also received her certification through N.P.S.A.G.  She wants every child to reach their highest potential. Her ultimate goal is to see every student at QHS succeed. "Through my years of experience, I've learned that not every child is alike. You have to meet them where they are. You have to teach them differently so they can understand."  


Carolyn Patterson

Middle School Educational Pathway Coach

Mrs. Carolyn comes to QHS with over 30 years experience. She is married to Mr. Junius Patterson for over46 years. Mrs. Carolyn has 3 children: Junius, Justin & Candace and 6 grandson's. Her son's are also educators & music teachers in Terrebonne Parish. Her daughter is a cosmetologist. She has been an educator in Terrebonne Parish for over 30 years. Mrs. Carolyn retired in 2014 and currently works as a substitute teacher. She has tutored children in grades 1st- 12th for 11 years. 

She's worked with diverse groups of students of all ages, grade levels and backgrounds. Among those were many students with ADD/ADHD, learning disabilities, speech impairments, and non-compliant behavior. 

Mrs. Carolyn believes that Education is the key to success.

She loves teaching!

Her motto is: "If I can help somebody as I pass along the way, then my living shall not be in vain".

Angela Davis

Pre- School & Elementary Educational Pathway Coach

Ms. Angela graduated from Booker T. Washington in 1987. She taught at John Dibert Magnet School in New Orleans, LA for 14 years. She's also worked at New Rising Sun daycare for 7 1/2 years. Ms. Angela went on to further her education by receiving her CDA and Ancillary Certificate in 2018.  She learned at an early age that she had a love for children. Ms, Angela is compassionate about teaching and helping children. She is a great asset to QHS! 

Maranda P. Thomas

Elementary Educational Pathway Coach

Mrs. Maranda Pierron Thomas is the mother of 3 beautiful children, Markus, Mariah and Zeke. She is a 2000 honor graduate of Ellender Memorial High School. She attended Nicholls State University where she studied Elementary Education. She has over 11 years of experience in the banking industry. Maranda has a very nurturing heart for children. Her passion is seeing kids excel in their education. We believe that Maranda's passion for encouraging students to reach their full potential allow her to effectively meet the needs of every student. 

Maranda is the widow of our namesake, Mr. Quentin Dion Thomas. We welcome her with open arms as she continues her husband's legacy here at QHS, 

Zachary Smith

High School Virtual Math/ English Educational Pathway Coach

Zachary Smith has been teaching math and other subjects for over five years. Starting with volunteer tutoring as a form of community service, and later as a freelance private tutor. Zachary takes pride in his communication skills and ability to meet a student at their level. He is proficient in Algebra and Geometry as well as English and other humanities. He continues to further his education at Nicholls State University's psychology department. 

Darrin Harris

High School Master Math Educational Pathw​ay Coach

Darrin has been a Math Tutor for approximately 20 years. He attended Delgado Community College and graduated from Fletcher Technical Community College. As a United States Army Veteran, he has mastered the ability to interact with the student on any level. Teaching mathematical skills is his passion. One of his favorite sayings is, “If you can read math, then you can do math.”
