Gena Thomas Ross

Founder/ Administrator

Gena Thomas Ross is a 1997 graduate of H. L. Bourgeois High School. She is the mother of three boys: Dorian, Payton & Landon. Gena has been married for 23 years. Her vision is to empower and enrich the lives of children. Gena is very passionate about home-schooling. Gena loves teaching and mentoring children. She has a total of 11 years experience as a teacher at M.I.C.S and as a Learning Coach. She also received her certification through N.P.S.A.G. She is a graduate of Nicholls State University. She wants every child to reach their highest potential. Her ultimate goal is to see every student at QHS succeed. "Through my years of experience, I've learned that not every child is alike. You have to meet them where they are. You have to teach them differently so they can understand."  


 

Carolyn Patterson

Middle School Educational Pathway Coach


Mrs. Carolyn comes to QHS with over 30 years experience. She is married to Mr. Junius Patterson for over46 years. Mrs. Carolyn has 3 children: Junius, Justin & Candace and 6 grandson's. Her son's are also educators & music teachers in Terrebonne Parish. Her daughter is a cosmetologist. She has been an educator in Terrebonne Parish for over 30 years. Mrs. Carolyn retired in 2014 and currently works as a substitute teacher. She has tutored children in grades 1st- 12th for 11 years. 

She's worked with diverse groups of students of all ages, grade levels and backgrounds. Among those were many students with ADD/ADHD, learning disabilities, speech impairments, and non-compliant behavior. 

Mrs. Carolyn believes that Education is the key to success.

She loves teaching!

Her motto is: "If I can help somebody as I pass along the way, then my living shall not be in vain".

Zachary Smith

 High School Math/ English Educational Pathway Coach

Zachary Smith has been teaching math and other subjects for over five years. Starting with volunteer tutoring as a form of community service, and later as a freelance private tutor. Zachary takes pride in his communication skills and ability to meet a student at their level. He is proficient in Algebra and Geometry as well as English and other humanities. He continues to further his education at Nicholls State University's psychology department.
